The BBC are holding a mass health screening event at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium on the 25th May. Their goal is to screen over 1,000 people in one day to raise awareness of three conditions – heart disease, diabetes and liver disease. It will be a landmark event that will help change attitudes and save lives. But they need your help to make it happen…
They are looking for registered nurses to assess the risk of members of the public. They need people who have a general understanding of all three diseases but you don’t need to be an expert, the BBCs charity partners Diabetes UK, British Heart Foundation and the British Liver Trust will be on hand to provide training.
In return for your help, they will be offering each volunteer a free pair of tickets to the ‘Rugby League Magic Weekend’ on Sunday 26th May, at the Etihad Stadium as well as providing lunch and all refreshments for the day and some travel expenses.
This is expected to be a fun day for all involved and also for volunteers to feel they have played a vital role in a major event that could change the nation’s health.
