This year NHS Professionals will be sending three members of staff on the Mount Cavell challenge, in support of the Cavell Nurses’ Trust.
Cavell Nurses’ Trust provides vital support to all UK nurses during very difficult times, offering help to up to 650,000 registered nurses, midwives, health care assistants, student nurses and retired nurses who have given a lifetime of caring and compassion.
Next year marks the centenary of the death of a British Red Cross nurse, shot down by German soldiers. Her crime? Technically, treason; in reality, helping more than 200 men, via an escape network in the Mons region, to flee to Holland.
With over 100 years’ experience of helping healthcare professionals, the Trust provide financial grants, advice and support. In 2013 alone, Cavell Nurses’ Trust gave £414,557 in grants to over 550 nurses and provided advice and support to over 1,000 nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants in their time of need.
NHS Professionals supports the Cavell Trust and we will be sending three members of staff to join the Cavell Nurses on 22nd August, in Jasper National Park, Canada! Once there, they will take part in a 3000 metre mammoth climb of ice, rock and snow. It will be physically and mentally enduring, but ultimately worth the effort to help support such a great cause.
We need your help!
Our volunteers are doing this challenge to help raise money for the Trust, which will be used to help support health professionals across the UK who are struggling financially due to ill health, disability, domestic violence and many other causes.
We are very proud to have these three take on the challenge and will be backing them 100% of the way! We would ask you to also back them.
If you would like to sponsor the team and raise money for the Cavell Trust please visit: www.justgiving.com/Team-NHSP1 or you can text 70070 and state “NHSP86 + the amount” that you wish to donate.

Fraser is 31 years old and from the busy capital of London. He has worked with the doctor’s team at NHS Professionals for over 7 years and developed a real passion for the NHS. Fraser loves the outdoors and will be climbing Ben Nevis just three weeks prior to the Cavell challenge! (rather you than me).
Andrew, Recruitment Officer has been working at NHS Professionals since November 2008. He cycles to work daily and has a keen interest in outdoor activities. Just this year Andrew trekked 64 miles in 29 hours without sleep from London to Brighton raising money for the British Heart Foundation. He is looking forward to the Cavell challenge and aiming to smash his target of £1250.
Lexi Ireland, part of the client relations team, has worked for NHSP for 1 year. She is an adventurous, sporty person who enjoys any challenge put forward to her. When Lexi came across this opportunity she jumped at the chance to take part and help raise awareness for the Cavell nurses Trust.
