East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust has renewed its contract with NHS Professionals and will continue to manage the Trust’s bank.
Three bidders responded to the tender issued by the Trust through the CCS Workforce Management framework (RM1072). NHS Professionals, which has provided a managed service to the Trust since 2005 was successful and has been awarded the new two year contract by the Trust. Since renewing its contract with NHS Professionals, the Trust has rebranded the bank ‘East Kent Hospitals Bank’.
The Trust is committed to delivering excellent quality of care, stable patient services, and making efficiencies to deliver cost savings. NHS Professionals will support the Trust to achieve their goals, meet agency rate caps, and reduce expenditure on agency workers through regional collaboration and migration from agency to bank filled shifts.
The contract will cover all staff groups including nursing and midwifery, locum doctors, healthcare scientists, admin and clerical staff and allied health professionals. NHS Professionals is supporting the Trust to increase bank filled shifts through a variety of workforce management initiatives, including overseas recruitment of nurses and NHS Professionals’ Care Support Worker Development Programme. The trust will also be given access to NHS Professionals’ new booking management system, NHSP: Connect, designed to address the specific requirements for the supply of locum doctors.

NHS Professionals manages temporary staff banks on behalf of around 60 NHS Trusts across England. It is the largest recruiter and provider of temporary staff to the NHS, with a bank of over 60,000 workers, who help NHS Trusts to fill over three million shifts every year. Their service is based on providing outstanding locally based services to client Trusts.
