Brand ambassador Steve Collins is ready to race!

While we celebrate the 70th Birthday of our National Health Service, we are also encouraged to live more healthy lifestyles. One of our dedicated Worcestershire Health and Care bank members and brand ambassador, Steve Collins, is doing his bit to support mental health.

Along with three friends he will be running the Simplyhealth Great Team Relay for MIND – the Mental Health Charity, on Wednesday 4th July. Steve is running the first 5k leg of the four legged relay around the London Olympic Stadium in Stratford.

Steve talks about his excitement and fears ahead of the race:

What name have you given your Team?

The team name is Hounds of Horror (we all love genre films and our tag line was ‘…because mental health need not be a fear’)

Who is in your team?

Steve Collins(me) , Mal Jutley, Zoe Rose, Rhia O’Reilly

What do they do and where are they from?

The other three team members come from London.  I’m not sure what Mal does, but Zoe is a journalist, and Rhia is a professional female wrestler (no really!!)

Why and when did you get together?

We got together to do the run as MIND is a charity we all believe in strongly.

What has the training involved?

For me, it’s involved training at the gym 5 days a week and running the other two days.  I’ve probably clocked up about five marathons worth of training miles.

What target have you set yourself?

We all seem to run at different speeds, but I’m doing the first leg and am hoping for a time of around 22 minutes (although it’s going to be hot! So might be longer!!)

What have your colleagues at Worcester Health and Care been like?

They are among the nicest and most supportive people I have ever worked with!
