We’re excited to launch our very own virtual awards, called Bank Worker of the Month!
The awards which will focus on recognising exceptional bank service from qualified and unqualified nursing staff, will be exclusive to fully registered members of NHSP:Bank (those who have undertaken the full bank registration process and who can work shifts at any of NHSPs client Trusts).
Winners will be nurses and care support workers who achieve excellent ratings for shift fill and cancellation alongside performance scores as given by ward managers, using our performance evaluation tool.
Three winners will be announced each month across each of the nursing staff types; registered nurse, care support worker and specialist nurse/midwife. These winners will each be presented with a certificate of recognition and Thank You card from a member of NHSPs Executive team.
Our first three January bank workers will be announced very soon, so check your emails for more information.
Thank you to everyone whose hard work and commitment delivers vital support to our client wards.
N.B Unfortunately, not all of our client Trusts have adopted the performance evaluation tool and we are hopeful that they will. Only flexible workers at those Trusts that have adopted the evaluation tool can be included in this recognition scheme.

The Bank Nurses Award aims to recognise and celebrate the valuable contribution that bank nurses make to nursing teams at Trusts and wards across the NHS.
The winner or winning team may simply possess all of the qualities of exceptional bank nursing that you wish to recognise and encourage such as; enthusiasm, flexibility, reliability, and assertiveness as well as a commitment to providing excellent patient care.
It could be you want to thank that Healthcare Assistant/Care Support Worker who makes a real difference to the efficiency of your team every time they step on to the ward or it could even be thanking the substantive nurse who always works those extra couple of hours via the bank, each week to help his/her ward run smoothly.
The winning team might be a team of substantive and flexible bank workers, without whom an important Trust or ward level initiative could not have been achieved.
Help us to recognise the best of bank working by nominating your bank colleagues and teams who deliver exceptional support to you and your teams.

We look forward to receiving your nominations and your help with recognising the contribution bank nurses make to patient care.
Take a moment to listen to this touching poem written by Molly, a Student Nurse, who has beautifully captured the realities of being a Nurse at this year’s RCN Congress in Liverpool.
In support of a suggestion from Phillip Darbyshire, let’s share this video and spread the word, for yourself and all your hardworking colleagues. Let’s help get Molly’s strong words heard by 1 million people in celebration of International Nurses Day on 12th May!
